Yes I doubt he'll start many league games but a good signing to use as a sub in the league and they'll keep him happy enough by starting him in all the Carling Cup games, some FA Cup games, Champs league games once qualified etc.

full of surprises is old fergie,as i said to a mate of mine, ill bet he signs someone no one expects.a bit like henrik larsson.
it could be the perfect union and it makes a change from paying millions over the odds for players

Took 40/1 on Owen top-scorer today with a view to trade. He's still Michael Owen no matter what all the tosh that is written about him says.

and has never, ever, ever not ever i his career scored 20 league goals in a season

not a cats chance in a swimming pool of being top scorer

as you rightly say "he is still Michael Owen" still a country before club player, still not a 20 goals a season man and still injury prone

you would ave been better off backing hitler to make chief rabbii.

66/1 for the golden boot next season ,how the mighty have fallen

corals now go 33s after the shock signing by utd ,wouldnt take that in a month of Sundays, most interesting bet for me is 5/4 widely available to make next years world cup squad, which i would take actually.
Fancy a bet on the number shirt Owen would get its 6/4 number 7 ,20 my bet is 5/1 as is 27 ,number 10 is 20/1
My own feelings
Owen left us to get a champions league medal and he came unstuck big time ,he now surprisingly (don't forget last week he was looking at finishing his career at Hull) has the chance to finish his career on a high.
My bet is that suddenly  the sick notes will dry up and he will make next years world cup squad ,form is temporary class is permanent

I think this is a great signing for Fergie and I think people will be quite suprised how many games he will start. Aslong as he's fit I can see him starting more than half the league games next season. Players like Michael Owen are hard to come by these days, a real goal poacher. You only have to look at how long top scorers are these days. Only 19 goals last season, I remember when we used to get 30+ for top scorer with the likes of Cole, Phillips etc. Also squad rotation plays a part in it but I still think Michael Owen will be a great buy for Man U as much as I hate the guy and I think he has a terrible attitude I can see him having a really good season. An e/w top scorer bet isnt as bad a bet as people are making out.

Geordie are you counting league goals only?
If so then Cole's best was 34.
If not just league then owens best for club is 28

Also 19 last season was lowest in 10 years.
The top 3 from the prevoius year never hit the ground running.
I'd expect a couple in the mid 20s again next season.

In 12 seasons in Premier league Owen has only played more than 30 league games twice. This is when he's been the main striker. At his new club you can add rotation to injury breaks he'll do well to play 25 games. So i'd hazard a guess at the goal tally being 12/13 in league.

Like Geordie I wouldn't be at all tempted even by an each way bet on the golden boot.
