Yeats is a true star, but I'd imagine he's off to stud now. Surely Patkai is next years gold cup winner in waiting, he was so far in front of everything else today.

I watched Yeats on Sky Plus after a very long, very hard day at work... I was in a bad mood. Suddenly, for a few minutes at least, the world seemed rosy again. What a star!! I agree with TGS that he's probably off to stud now and at 8 years old that's probably the right decision. Coolmore send their stars to stud too soon too often in my opinion but Yeats is an exception to that and I'm glad he stayed in training to make history!!

Well done David.

Top tipping!

Well picked up on KD, fair enough I was wrong and i paid for it big time. At the end of the day you cant have anything but admiration for the winner, a great horse.

Maybe put your selection up before the race next time?

Fantastic to see Yeats win this yesterday, delighted for a horse I like a lot. In the run up to the race I was really unsure as to whether he'd do it or not but was unusually at my most confident just before the race. Johnny rode him with some real balls, kicking for home so early; a lot of jockeys wouldn't have done this but when you're on the best horse I think it makes sense.

Hard lines with Geordieland, Dave. This forum only exists because people put up their selections and have the knowledge and insight to back them up. When these people who dare to put up their selections are mocked by others who dare not put up their top tips; lets just say it leaves a bitter taste.

Sad postscript to yesterdays race :-

Quote:
VERACITY PUT DOWN

Godolphin's smart stayer Veracity has had to be put down after suffering injury in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

The five-year-old made much of the running under Frankie Dettori in the two-and-a-half-mile Group One but broke down halfway up the home straight.

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said: "Unfortunately he had to be put down this morning as he sustained quite a bad fracture to his cannon bone.

"We were trying to do surgery to save him but he couldn't be saved."

Veracity won five times from a total of 15 starts, including victories in last year's Jockey Club Cup at Newmarket and in Dubai earlier this year.

RIP Veracity
