Hi Westmead.
I'm sorry to take issue with this on you but it does annoty me when people say that. Schumie was a sporting genius on the scale of Pele, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Muhammed Ali etc.
All the people I've mentioned are/were(rightly) considered joys to watch but when Schumacher took to the track, it was no less a genius at work but people called him boring

Thanks for the link Westmead, I've just watched it, what an incredible story.
I've never really liked Lewis Hamilton,
I don't know why because I didn't know much about him
but after watching this I've changed my mind, he's ok, I quite like him now.
I liked listening to what the body language expert had to say about him.
I used to really like Formula 1 but lost interest when Ayrton Senna died.

Ayrton had an Austrian flag in his car the day he died,
he was going to wave it for Ratzenberger after the race,
jeez - is that the saddest thing you ever heard?

Picking up on a few comments in the last few posts.
Schumacher seemed boring because he was so dominant, but the guy was the best, by a country mile, and when it rained no-one would ever beat him. He was the best driver in my lifetime and Hamilton has miles to go to get close to him if ever.
And as for Massa, I must admit, I think they guy is a really great guy, he took defeat so gracefully and if Hamilton doesnt win the title next year I would love to see Massa win it.
And finally, I agree with WMH about it going back to BBC, thank god for no more ad breaks! If only Murray Walker came back we'd be in dreamland _________________ 2008 Roll Of Honour (So Far....)

That was a terrible few weeks
It was difficult for me. I liked DC a lot and thought he took on the challenge of "replacing" Senna at Williams with a lot of dignity - something he seems to have largely retained throughout his career. When he moved to McLaren I thought we really would have a UK world champion... and then this stupid "arrangement" he had threw it all in Mika Hakkinen's lap. I never quite forgave McLaren for that - in some ways Ron Dennis "owed" me a UK champion! |

Hi guys
Re: Senna, I too was very upset when he died. I tried to visit Imola when I was in Italy years ago but got a bit lost on the mountain roads to the town I always wondered if it was appropriate but my first dog was called Senna too - entirely as a mark of adoration!
I appreciate what you say Jimbob, but Schumacher/Ferrari's dominance was bad for the sport as a spectacle IMHO. But as I stopped watching it eventually I am not truly qualified to comment, I suppose a fairer comment is that my perception is that it became more boring.
Glad you enjoyed the i-player show Sue, I played the first 10 mins to my class last night! _________________ Jimi Hendrix b.27/11/42 "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens"
