Today sees the continuation of the Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park. For the most part, the favorites keep qualifying, although sadly Kilkenny Lonjack was eliminated in the first round. My other selections clash in the 8.55 Express Ego has a tough battle with Tyrur Laurel last years beaten favourite. While both dogs should qualify, College Causeway who is antepost favourite, and will start odds on from trap four. Laurel is drawn five and may suffer, Ego though is drawn in one, and should get a nice run, i think the 7/1 with Stan james is too good to miss.

In the 9.25 Advantage Johnny is the only wide runner, he should blast away from the six box and miss any trouble on the inside. He is 11/8 with Boylesports.

In the following heat at 9.40 we have a fascinating race between Ballymac Under in trap four and the antepost second favourite Killahan Phanter in six. I am hoping Ballymac hits the bend first and misses any trouble, that said there are no wide runners in this, and if there is to be a shock of the night, i fell it will be in this race.

Shelbourne Ashton, Midwest Blue and Bar The Devil all clash in the 10.10. Tha last named being owned by Mr Fallon himself.  All three should qualify, and while the one box will help Bar The Devil, i cant see him beating both the other two. One or other will surely prove too good, if i had to pick a winner, then it would be Mid West Blue due to the draw.

Tonights selection Shelbourne Park

8.55 Express Ego 7/1 with Stan James one point win
9.25 Advantage Johnny 5/4 with Bet 365 four points win

Running total +9.72 points

Update, as expected College Causeway beat Tyrur Laurel and Express Ego, and all three qualified. Advantage Johhny won as expected and was suprisingly 6/4 at the off.

Tonights outlay was 5 points
Return was 9 points
Profit was 4 points

Running total is now +13.72
