just want to wish gilly all the best in the future after todays announcement that hes calling it a day in the tests
been lucky enough to have witnessed some off hes innings when he was just having a wee bit of fun of smashing hundreds like ive never seen before from a wicketkeeper, super crickter
i remenber when ian healy called it a day and i thought great that the aussies will never replace healy and along comes gilchrist
now im wondering who the aussies have lined up to replace gilly no doubt the new fella could get in the team on hes batting alone, probably with a decent batting average already for hes state team with a few big hundreds already to hes name.
cheers archie.

Gilchrist is one of the greats .

Certainly not the best keeper I've ever seen (but pretty good!) and could he bat and was he fun to watch?

YES.........................

Happy retirement and I hope whoever follows him is hopeless!!!!!!!!!!!

No doubt about it a fantastic cricketer! Like awaywardlad says not the best wicket keeper but very good and would have batted at 3 or 4 had it not been for his keeping. His record as a keeper/batsman is second to none.

It was really Gilchrest that changed the view that you have to have a wicket keeper who can not only keep wicket but bat as well.

An outstanding record for someone in that postion & not just in Test matches but ODI's too!

Do the Ozzies have a production line in turning out top class keepers!
