Strauss will be better off playing as once he gets back into a groove he's a very good batsman.

Mustard normaly keeps wicket so I'm not sure about having him as an opener!

All in all it was a very poor batting performance in the second innings! Looks as if most of them were caught between playing postively & trying to win the match & playing defensively & getting a draw which is the wrong mind set!

They are now one down in the series which makes their task harder!

hello hampton
mustard plays has opener for the one day team and from what ive seen of the young fella hes a aggressive batter and i just thought perhaps that is what england need someone to take the challenge early to the kiwis bowlers
but in all honesty i doubt there be any changes to the starting elven for the 2nd test.cheers archie.

Harmison & Hoggard dropped!

Broad & Anderson brought in!

I can understand Harmison being dropped due to his lack of form but it'a bit harsh on Hoggard who is abit more consitsant, but I guess they feel he's out of form too!

Vaughan says they felt the team needed a shake up!

Broad for Harmison is obvious but feel Hoggard deserved better as he's seldom let us down and Anderson is not in form either.Change for changes sake I think.

Also bowled out for 110 on the last day is not the fault of the bowlers.

I completely agree! Anderson is not in form and even if he was, is a one day specialist! Very harsh on Hoggard!

Hoggard is one of our best swing bowlers & will bowl a tight line!

Anderson can be wayward at times!

I think they have done the wrong thing there!

Any prices for the Test tomorrow?

I think England will struggle!

sorry fellas but i have to disagree with yous regarding dropping hoggard
any sportsman is only has good has hes last performance imo and hoggard bowled poor in hamilton and fair play to the england managment having found some balls to drop him, whether anderson or broad have bowled enough overs to trouble the new zealand batsmen remains to be seen
i couldnt punt on england after the hamilton shambles but lets hope that england show there true colours.cheers archie.

2nd Test close of play score Day 1: England 291-5

Thanks to a unbeaten stand between Collingwood & Ambrose England reached some parity on day 1 having lost a flurry of wickets after lunch.

Could England at long last found a keeper who can bat as well? Ambrose scoring his second 50 in only his second Test! I really hope he comes on from this!

Goodish day for us.Let's hope we can get 450+ and put them under some pressure.

Yes, perhaps, Ambrose could be the answer but I've not seen enough of him to make an informed comment.
