|
|
the first test starts this week in hamilton
so anyone with any opinions about englands chances of a series win???
personally i think england are a decent team (no more than that) with perhaps the bowling attack being the weakest link, has we saw in the one dayers at times englands bowling was absolutely pisspoor and even thou the big names have arrived to bolster the bowling anyone think they can grab 20 wickets
just checked the weather likely for the 5 days mainly sunny but chance of clouding over.cheers archibald.

new zealand squad
danny vettori skipper
bren Mccullum vice skipper
matty sinclair
jeetan patel
ross taylor
jacob oram
ian Obrien
kyle mills
chris martin
jamie how
stevie flemming
grant elliot
matty bell
not the most friengtening of line ups argubably only two class performers in there in the skipper and flemming maybe oram could do some damage with the bat and ball but if the bowlers bowl has well has they can do a england victory looks likely imo
any views awaywardlad/hampton or any other cricket followers???
cheers archibald. |

Weeks ago I posted that I'd had a few £'s on a drawn series so I'll stick with that. However I think we are a more talented team and SHOULD win the series but whether we perform to our potential is the great imponderable. _________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. |

General prices for the first Test as:-
England - 6/4
Draw - 11/8
NZ - 5/2
Draw seems very short to me.Is poor weather forecast? _________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. |

awaywardlad would you go with 4 bowlers or perhaps 5

A Test side ALWAYS with 6 batsmen ,4 bowlers and the best wicketkeeper.
Yes enough time for us to win it with no bad weather forecast. _________________ Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. |

Might be tempted to go with England for this test match.
I've just put a few quid on Australia to beat India "in-running" at 2-1. Hopefully that will come in and I can re-invest.
We can actually get to watch some of the test as it starts 9.30pm our time. |

NZ aren't the strongest side by any means. On paper England are a stronger team.
England though have to perform as a unit, no good bits & pieces from a few players.
The return of Strauss as an opener is good news. If KP can get going & start laying into the NZ attack then they may wilt under the pressure!
The weather can be abit iffy in NZ at this time of year & I'll be very surprised if they don't get some rain during the Test. That's maybe why the draw is so short!
If the rain stays away I can see England winning the 1st Test. _________________ SBH Comp 2008 - Runner Up |

Close of 1st day score: NZ 282-6
A fairly good day for England in that they managed to tie the NZ batsmen down.
Some very good catches taken by Cook in the slips.
England could get NZ out for less than 400 given a good start tomorrow.
Bell might not bat due to taking a hit on his wrist while field at short leg. _________________ SBH Comp 2008 - Runner Up |

Close of play score on the 2nd day: NZ 470 a.o. England 87-2 Vaughan 44n.o.
A rather mixed day for England first allowing the NZ tail to score over 400 & the losing two wickets by close of play.
Vaughan looks in good form & hopefully England will post a good score tomorrow. _________________ SBH Comp 2008 - Runner Up |
