That's two festival swerves in two years for Ringaroses........

Fingers burnt last year but not his time - Best cure for burnt fingers is to come out the traps firing next Tuesday, sure after a few winners on day 1 all will be forgotten....

Knowing what Hen Knight is like the horse probally stood on the wrong kind of hay and will be in the bath reading the racing post.

 Gutted

Did a fair bit of the bet NRNB (more than half) but I'm not just bothered about what i have lost - I'm equally bothered about:

a) What i could have won, as I was convinced he was a good thing
b) The horse still won't get the chance to prove what i'm convinced to be his considerable ability
c) All that time i have spent reserching the race and writing the preview.

This horse, and the race, has been occupying my mind far more than is appropritate for the last month or so - and for what? NOTHING - need to re-assess my priorites i think - putting far too much time and thought into these animals and then s*** like this happens - what a mug. It's like pursuing a woman for months and then finding out your best mate has been shagging her all along

I had a bad feeling something like this was going to happen - It all seemed a bit too perfect. I'm trying to stay calm as i'm typing this as i'm  in a library but all i really want to do is bang the desk and shout "F*** F*** F***"

Watch yourself David. There are some fiery Hen fans on this forum.

It's a tricky skill to acquire, putting the cybosh on all ante post selections!!

Last year the majority of my ante-post bets didnt line up through 'injury' this year I have hardly got involved but of the ones i cursed, i have managed to force Amaretto Rose into pulling up and subsequent retirement, turned Ashley Brook into a horse that cannot jump or complete a race and soon to be retired..

Just waiting to read about Muirhead and Sublimity now - to all those who have backed the above mentioned i humbly apologise as once they turn up on my betting slip their fate is DOOMED!!

Hosed I have also been responsible for the death of at least 2 horses this season, and have also caused many other chasers to fall or be brought down when bang in contention, and now look at what i've done to poor old Ringaroses! I would like to join you in apologising to the connections of these horses

There'll always be more opportunities in the future for that life changer.

I know - I'm just feeling sorry for myself! In such circumstsances i like to forget about any successes and focus exclusively on the disappointments

It is dissapointing but as TGS says all stil to play for. It was one hell of a tough race but he did have a decent chance. I backed him last season for the festival and now this!!!  So I feel I am as much to blame as anyone for him pulling out

Just get your head into another race and nail that one.

Indeed it's just a bit of a  kick in the balls. And a kick in the balls takes a while to get over.

My festival betting really was going to revolve around him in the Coral Cup and Tamarinbleu in the Ryanair which may not happen either. So this has just thrown me a little bit and knocked the stuffing and enthusiasm out of me. A few days box rest and then i'll be ready to go again

I can sympathise with you Owl.  I spent ages writing the GC preview and posted my selections after dipping into my pocket.  Another Promise doesn't run and even if Exotic Dancer does you wonder what sort of form he'll be in.

Looking forward to drowning my sorrows in the Mudlark tomorrow!!

I recommend a nice warm bran mash, with two bottles of Guinness and half a dozen eggs mixed in. Also, all hay to be damped, and linseed added to hard feed.....

Hills are still offering 33/1 NRNB about MISSIS POTTS which i think is massive considering the defections at the 5 day stage and the fact that many other bookies have now cut her to 14s and 16s. Indeed i think 20s is the biggest anywhere else now. If you like her get on with William Hill asap.

Owl

edited to add-  stan james also 33s - top price 20s elsewhere
