England are really failing badly in cricket on so many levels and this is due to a few things. One being the selectors who continue to make bad decision after bad decision. They continue to ignore the obvious selections. Can someone really tell me how Phil Mustard didnt make the team?
And then tonight, they put snape in when we are desperately needing runs and leave big hitting Mascharenas on the sidelines to watch as England fail once again. And more importantly in a game that favours batters, against a team that mostly scores well, it was blantantly obvious to anyone that it would be a big mistake to take out an batsmen and replace him with a bowler for todays game. I mean how much difference can a bowler bowling 4 overs make compared to a good batsmen?
Next is Flintoff, who we simply cannot carry anymore as an 'all-rounder'. His batting is simply not good enough anymore and he should now be classed as a bowler only. His batting tonight was very poor, coming across his wicket, too much movement, and his head was all over the place.
It doesnt help when the 3rd umpire doesnt even notice that Pollock impeeded Pieterson (he didnt even bother looking at any other angles on the replay's) but one bad decision cant be blamed for the defeat. The blame can only lie with the many poor decisions England themselves continue to make.
End of rant

Couldn't agree more Sharmardal, South Africa arn't a great side and we lost that game due to a number of errors from the management and very poor captaincy. We won't improve until there is a total change of management at the highest level. Every other side is playing pretty much there first choice Test/ODI players not England. We have two spinners one doesn't even play full time for his county and one who was so poor he was playing minor counties cricket last season because Lancashire didn't renew his contract. We have a thirty something opening bat that was dropped from the side years ago because he was totally out of his depth at test level when touring South Africa. Two Sussex players Kirtly and Wright who are simply there because the coach used to be in charge at Sussex and has no grasp of the difference in technique and skill required to step up this level. Not forgetting Prior who also plays for Sussex and is average behind the stumps and an embarrasment of an opening batsmen. As you say Mustard is far superior keeper batsman along with Ambrose of Warwick, Davies of Worcestershire and even the much maligned Chris Read. Collingwood is no captain, we had South Africa on the rack and with his poor bowling changes we let them off the hook they shouldn't have got 130. The batting line up as usual was completely wrong and any sniff of a chance we still had was lost when Snape came out to bat. I have to disagree about the Pieterson dismisal, it was totally his own fault. Pollock was looking at the ball the entire time not Pieterson who had he not ambled the first part of the run would have made his ground comfortably.
Rant over here too!! |

It seems you need to play for a fashionable county / club side to be picked for England at any sport at the moment.
Gloucestershire got to the final of the 20/20 competition but are there any players in the squad? No.
The same could be said for Worcestershire, the best one day county too.
Gloucester won the Guiness Premiership last year (well, the proper league bit anyway) Are there any Gloucester players in the world cup squad? No (Peter Richards doesn't count)
Bloody ridiculous.
Agree about Snape coming in before Mascharenas. Pathetic decision. Prior needed to give his wicket away long before he was out too as he wasn't connecting properly enough.
Rant over. |

| We still got 200 yesterday which is a decent score! Just not good enough, Broads over wasnt that bad bar the full toss just excellent batting. I think SA could go all the way in this and the ruby though. |

Having just seen Oz not having to break sweat to beat S.L. I can't see pass them. More so with Hayden who is very good form & along side Gilly a very powerful opening pair!
S.A are only rated a moderate side & we should of beaten them the other day.
India are well capable of reaching the final. _________________ SBH Comp 2008 - Runner Up

Pakistan win by 6 wickets. Market settled at 10pts per wicket making supremacy -60. £1 per point x 60 = £60 _________________ ROLL OF HONOUR
