Speed Gifted, trained by Luca Cumani won an extraordinary race yesterday at Folkestone, over 1m 4f, it was the 4.20. He was stone-cold last 2 furlongs out, about 20 lengths behind (have a look at the race on attheraces.com if you don't believe me!), where he sprinted through the field, finally winning by 2 1/2 lengths. He may not have beaten much and ran very green, but for a first-timer, his acceleration was very impressive once he knew what he was doing.

Speed Gifted has an entry in the Leger, and is also entered in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket on Thursday:

Shall we wait till it goes 999/1 on Betfair again or shall we punt before the off?

£28 matched at 999/1 on that last run if you didn't know!

It was an amazing race, only ever run, was 20 lengths behind with 2 furlongs to go, the eventual 2nd was going away from the field before being caught and passed by Cumani's charge. Very interesting they think enough of him to enter him in the Leger over what will be only his third ever run.

I'm going away tomorrow so won't be around to post anything next week but watch out for Zamalik who is running either at Ripon or Musselburgh on Monday. Zamalik, who is entered for both the 5pm and 5.30pm at Musselburgh and the 8.55pm at Ripon on Monday night (9th of July), came a creditable / surprise 25/1 2nd at Thirsk last week (a race won by the impressive Skyelady). Very well fancied apparently. I won't be lumping on but I'll definitely be putting a tenner on it.

Doesn't look like this one is running anywhere tomorrow - can't find an entry for it at either track.

John Dunlop's Spanish Hidalgo was an eyecatcher for me on Friday, not given a hard race in third on his seasonal debut, should be placed to win a handicap soon.

Bobs Your Uncle Ran at Goodwood yesterday & ran very well. Looks as if a bit of cut suits it so it may be one to keep in mind for a late season handicap.

Runs in the 2.45 at Lingfield today. It on the A/W rather than the turf that he's been on lately & his A/W form is not as good as his turf form. He has a decent chance but I would be more confident if it had been on turf.

2nd at 5/1. Looked a bit one paced today at the end. no change of an extra gear....might be better over a wee bit further or more at home on a softer surface.

Runs in the 5.15 at Lingfield. Should reverse the form with the horse who beat him last time. A good chance to go one better today.

Won at 11/4

Runs 9.10 Kempton. Trying 2 miles for the first time.

2nd 7/2. Looked as if he saw out the 2 miles OK but run out of it at the end. May be they are looking at sending him jumping in the winter. If they do I'll be watching out for him.

Runs: 5.00 Lingfield

Vicious Warrior got placed today got 3rd at Haydock

Vicious Warrior WON today at 10/1! Yay (i got 15.5/1 on BF). It was amazing to watch!

Brave, brave horse to be in the lead from the stalls to the line and hold on in such difficult conditions underfoot, piles of stamina.

Well done to him, i await his next fantastic run.

Myboycharlie simply HAS to go into the book.

He has just spread eagled a field in the Group 3 at the Curragh.

Still been looking Johnnio...only entry is like you said, Sept 15th Doncasters Ledger Stakes 4.15.

Looking forward to it, are you?

Thanks Grace on behalf of half my office.

On Friday one of the girls who was going to the races said she liked Vicious Warrior - I'd said I'd heard good things but I wasn't sure where from. And to be honest I couldn't remember if I just liked the name But I must have read you on here.

Either way - They backed it and the texts this afternoon confirm a good afternoon was had by all

(Not me - I skipped York in a grump because I had to work )
