|
|
After fiddling about for fun on the Portsmouth MAnager market I decided to have a look at the Prem Sack Race market and I was amazed to see Mark Hughes is 33/1 so I've had a decent bet on that
Ferguson, Wenger, O'Neill, Southgate, Moyes, Brown, Ince and Keane all look rock solid unless something unforeseen happens
Megson could be vulnerable at Bolton (7/1 to go first) and I'm not sure about Hodgson at Fulham although I would suspect he is pretty safe. Can't see Stoke sacking Pulis, Mowbray could be vulnerable at WBA...
but Mark Hughes was not employed by the current owners who have unlimited funds and huge ambition. They are talking of spending hundreds of millions on new players in the transfer window and I reckon there is a fair chance they might decide that they want a real top flight, world class manager to look after them... just a hunch so at 33/1 I thought it was worth a punt...
it's also 3/1 that no manager gets sacked which indicates that the bookies reckon someone is gonna get it this season...
any thoughts?

what odds on Kinnear (or doesn't he count?)
a few more home defeats and solari might be gettng a call to the yacht..........
hughes at 33/1 is a good bet at the price; I think the chances of noone getting th eboot [how do they class a sacking.... if i's "mutual" do you get paid out?]
One thing to look at is clubs that might change hands; Everton are seeking wealthy investors and would new ownes want Moyes? _________________ Geordie_R

yes, interim managers dont count so Kinnear is not in the market...
Moyes has just signed a new 5 year deal...and would presumably want paying off so I can't see new money getting rid seeing he's been there so long and been successful relatively speaking
if any of the clubs are likely to get rid then it might be those established clubs that need to avoid relegation (Wigan, Boro, Bolton, Fulham, Blackburn et al) as that represents death for many. If any of those go on a long losing run and get sucked deep into trouble they may get rid before it's too late. I reckon the promoted clubs are likely to stick rather than twist as those managers are the ones that got them promoted.
I might have a saver on 'none' at 3/1 and Megson at 7/1 though...
as I see it the new owners at Man City have no reason to be loyal to Hughes, have little or no understanding of football and very deep pockets so I am happy with the 33/1 _________________ RJI |

This is a good bet at 33/1 judge.
Hughes is a good manager and deserves a crack but i just cant see him satisfying the new owners ambitions quick enough for them.
Man City wont finish any higher than 6th this season and i just cant see that being good enough for them.
Im pretty sure they will fire him by next summer at the latest.
There is a chance Hughes may get a fair chance.Maybe next summer in the transfer window with the chance to have a real crack next season.I just dont see that though and think the other scenario is far more likely.
33/1 that he is next to go is solid given that there are not too many other managers you would see as vulnerable before next summer. |

i agree a good shout
if mark hughes is in crontol of the transfer dealings then he could last a while but if the owners put there oar into who city should buy, then i think he could be a gonna
after watching the newcastle v city game, imo city dont need any more of these flair type of players in january they need players who are prepared to get stuck in,cause against newcastle half the city team went missing in action including the brazilians when newcastle where there for the taking imo
anyway good luck with your punt RightJudgeIam
thanks archibald. |

I think Mowbray is the best bet of the lot.

yes next Manager to leave...
Mowbray could also be vulnerable (although I dont see they would gain much) but is much shorter... _________________ RJI |

| Can't see Mowbray being sacked even if West Brom get relegated. Gary Megson would be my favourite |

surprised mowbray is high up on people's lists, i can't see why we'd get rid all season as the level of expectation at west brom is a lot lower than most. megson i think is decent value at 7/1 as bolton will never be better than bottom half with him in charge!
worth a punt on someone anyway, not many seasons without 2 or 3 managers changing at some point |

as I said before Millsy I reckon it's more likely one of the established teams will be first to act _________________ RJI |
