Zenyatta looks an absolute machine
Quote:
In the 2008 Lady's Secret Stakes Zenyatta ran as Secretariat once did: each quarter faster than the one before. Her splits were :24 4/5, :23 4/5, :23 1/5, :22 3/5, and a final sixteenth in :06 flat.
Her target is this race and will be a hot favourite on the day, proved on course, going and distance. She's around evens at the moment, I'm wondering whether her sp will be much shorter
I cant see the evens lasting, unless there is something just as special in the race. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you
Evens looks a bad price to me. She's been winning weak races and has to prove herself in tougher company. I like the look of the Godolphin fillies for this

Blimey I must have read her form completely differently to you. Beating Ginger Punch by 8 lengths at the start of the season and Hysterical Lady by 3 lengths in her trial for this is the best form on offer IMO.
I can see her going off a lot shorter than evens on the day.
Zenyatta deserves to be favourite as she has consistent form on the surface but she doesn't have as much in hand as an antepost price of evens would suggest imo.
Music Note has just about the strongest form in the race but is unproven on the surface. I like Cocoa Beach a lot too.
Evens Zenyatta, 6/1 Cocoa Beach (probably Evs+ for a place) - no contest as to how to play the race imo.
The style of Zenyatta's wins give the impression she has a lot lot more in hand than she has shown and she normally races off the pace and wide of the field before hitting the front.
She has has the form on both dirt & synthetic surfaces which cannot be said about most of the field, she looks pretty rock solid to me though I would agree that evens is as skinny as she should be.
The consistent Hystericalady at 14/1 with Ladbrokes is a solid alternative imo I would be surprised if she is not in the mix at the very least.

she is a very nice but why not the bc classic-because she isnt all that
she has had it her own way most of the year
believe she may be best at 1 1/16 -that 9f race of hers wasnt all that
not in love with 3/5 horses-that is all and will try to beat her with small wagers
I see, so it's more the price that puts you off Zenyatta, which is understandable.
Surely you should judge every horse purely on price. If she was 2/1 I'd be all over her
Definately should be a combination of price and form.
The problem I'm having with Zenyatta is that I've been hearing loads and loads of hype about her. Things like "she's Americans version of Zarkava"/"breeders cup banker material" etc etc and all of this added to what in my eyes looks like a decent race record builds her up in my mind.
This race looks a simpler puzzle to solve than most of the other Breeders Cup races at the moment, there's just the minor question of seeing the final declarations now
Definately should be a combination of price and form.
Surely you assess the form and then decide whether the price is right. So at the end of the day the final decision has to come down to price. It's all relative, and price has to be the deciding factor.
