Snooker - UK/World Championship 2009I want to back Hendry to win these as his swansong.
And to overtake Steve Davis as the winningmost geezer of all time. (which he deserves imo)
Anyone got reasons why I shoudn't?

He's still as good as ever, just not as often as before. It's a shame but it's an irreversible sign of age. Your concentration goes, you miss easy balls. Your eyes go, you miss long pots. Every now and again it all clicks (hence the odd old pro turning up at a semi-final or finak) but I'm afraid Hendry's winning days are more than likely to be over. Especially if he drops out of the 16....
Just had a little dabble on Liang Wenbo. I love John Higgins with ALL MY HEART and I really hope he wins but Liang's cruised through against some very good players up until now. If he gets past Higgins, which I hope he doesn't, I think he'll be a huge threat to anyone that plays him.
Also, Maguire is out of form but has the sentimental factor; Ding's temperemental but looks to be cuing very well. Ding to win that semi-final.
Peace. x

What a fantastic game of snooker tonight. Ronnie's comeback was unbelievable.. but for John to bounce back after that comeback and drag himself over the line. Excellent. It's a horrible cliche but it's a shame there had to be a loser.
Bring on the final tomorrow... COME ON JOHN!!!!

Agreed, Flip. Last nights match was unbelievable, a joy to behold. It was an epic contest between two players I like a lot so I didn't mind too much who won (unlike your good self)
Hope John boy wins it

Snookers a bit hit and miss with me but last nights game was great, really like both players but once Ronnie got going he was potting for fun. Id be on Higgins to win the final

Is it just me, or is Ding getting the edge on safety play against Higgins?

Gutted but well played Ding. John wasn't at his best by any means but Ding's safety game was the best I've ever seen from him. Fair play. Pleased with that effort this tournament.
Bring on the (non-ranking and therefore "stress-free!!") Masters in January!!
