Bet365 Gold Cup

Selections

MONKERHOSTIN
+ Well handicapped running off 153
+ Has decent course form, with his 2nd in the King George behind Kicking King years ago.
+ Philip Hobbs had Boychuk entered in the race who looked an ideal candidate for the race but decided to only rely upon Monkey.
+ Ground will suit him much better than Cheltenham where he didn't tun his race at all. But if you forgive him that run, he run 2 very tiday races earlier this season.

RP - Monkerhostin showed he is no backnumber as he finished with some zest, though he did not help his cause with an error that knocked him back at a fairly critical point. Provided he comes on from this run, there is surely a decent prize to come for him.
+ He has had a light campaign this term which he needed having run 21 times between Nov 03 - April 2006, he has since run 8 times since November 2006. This approach allowing him to freshen up after some hard campaigns could well be rewarded on Saturday.
+ Hobbs won this race in 2006 with Lacdoudal and he will have had other options other than Boychuk to have targetted for this.
- He doesn't really fit many of the stats (for all you trend backers out there)
- The trip is still something of a question mark, but i feel it shouldn't pose any problems on decent going.

CARIBOU
+ He has improved with every race this season and looks like there is more to come.
+ He is a much better horse when racing right handed, Sandown should really play to his strengths.
+ The extra step up in trip looks like it would bring about further improvement in him.
+ The trainer also has Eric's Charm in the 5 day decs but he unilkely to run after winning at Perth today. This is interesting as the latter is something of a Sandown specialist and I get the impression, the Sheriff must really fancy Caribou to run a big race by only running him, even if he has to run out of the handicap proper.
+ He does fit a lot of the stats for all you trend backers!
- Would prefer more cut in the ground.

I also think Bewleys Berry, Royal Auclair and Racing Demon could run big races.

Regards and best of luck.
