2008 Formula1 SeasonThe mighty prancing horse of Ferrari will be victorious once more!! Kimi The Iceman will once again put the overated scumbag Hamilton firmly in his place and Alonso will humiliate him showing Ron Dennis & all the others at the team that tried to cheat their way into a championship last season that they got rid of the wrong driver!!!
My Prediction for the Drivers Championship;
1. Kimi
2. Alonso
3. Massa
4. Hamilton
5. Heidfeld
Good to see the mighty Schumi back in a car the other day by the way
Can anybody give me prices on Kimi & Alonso to win the Championship as Oddschecker has now been blocked by the powers that be in the office

Hi Archie. Cheers for that. on Alonso could be worth a small bet now he is out of the Mcliar Mercedes who wouldn't let him win last year for fear of upsetting the inferior Hamilton. Kimi & Alonso are really a cut above the rest. As a Ferrari fan, I would love to see Massa win it as I have followed his career since the start & knew he was something special the first time I saw him but he will have to produce something extraordinary to beat Kimi & Alonso.
In answer to your question, what I love about sport in general is the tactics involved and motorsport in general, although to the casual observer it doesn't look it, is one of the most tactical sports out there! It really annoys me when people say it is all the car & the drivers have nothing to do with who wins That is like saying Jockeys have no talent and it just depends on what horse they are on. Of course the car(and the horse for that matter) is very important but it isn't the be all and end all of who wins. If that were the case, Michael Schumacher would never have won two world championships in a Benneton!
Now Motor Racing can be boring as any sport can but it can also be the most exhilarating sport going!! When to pit, how much fuel to put in, what tyres to be on, when to make a move & when to sit back, these are the things that decide a race!! I tell you what though. I'm never going to Silverstone again. 4 hour traffic jams, when you get there it is full of idiots who know very little about the sport and just want to see a British Driver win(not caring about the safety of anybody else. If they ain't British they don't care). Watch the Belgian or the Spanish GP's as they are the most entertaining. Then you may be a convert Archie

Hope that petulant spoilt brat Alonso finishes knowhere.
Do thin that Ferrari will be the best by far this year.
Got a gut feeling that McLaren will have a stinker so making it a bit more interesting on the betting front race to race.

You will never convert me to the most boring "spectacle" on tv! Hours of mind sapping monotony as cars follow one another around the same track in the same order The only time it gets mildly interesting is if one of the cars spins out of control and causes a pile up! Say what you like about technicalities and tactics it`s still boring The only "sport" where the slowest have to give the fastest a start! Where`s the sport in that?

I don't understand the question, surely the slowest cars are on the back of the grid, hence the start being referred to by merrymozzer. If the slow ones were at the front of the grid then there would be some fun, but also horrific accidents. Just as a point of information, in the London Marathon the fastest are always at the front to.

But everybody has equal chance to qualify on pole do they not? It's not as if Bernie Ecclestone is saying that nobody in a Super Aguri is allowed to qualify on Pole. It is just that the Super Aguri is not a good enough car to get pole. in theory they could do, just as in theory Luxembourg could win the World Cup.

I agree, everybody has a chance to get on pole position, but would the racing be more spectacular if the cars that have no chance of getting in that position were not allowed to race until they met a recognised benchmark, like athletes qualifying for the Olympics? or horses for certain races? nine times out of ten carnage happens in F1 racing just after the leaders have got away from the start, or when they are trying to lap inferior cars or drivers. The aforementioned is only a "what if" scenario because I am a firm believer that without losers there can't be winners hence the numbers of minnows in every single sport, good luck to them all.

Good grief.
"Drove through the chicane"? Would that be when Raikkonen FORCED him off the road into the RUNOFF AREA? When Hamilton was CLOSE ENOUGH to KR to have made a passing manouevre, and in fact be AHEAD?
LH came back on the track, let KR go past, as the rules say he must. He then overtook when he was able to, as in the rules. No advantage was obtained, KR was back ahead not long after. He then spun and crashed because he couldn't handle the conditions. The race result was not changed in any way.
If the incident had been the other way round, nothing would have been said. I'm not even a particular Hamilton fan (I support Heidfeld), I'm just sick of the Ferrari bias in F1 ruining the sport.
A brilliant race has been turned into a farce.

Hi Rowan
I'm not much of a Formula 1 fan, but i would disagree with you - Hamilton may have been marginally ahead, but he was on the outside, off the racing line, going into a chicane, i felt Raikkonen merely held the racing line and eased him off, not forced, a move that i would consider fair. Hamilton could never have properly made that overtaking move stick.
For me, Hamilton again showed his inexperience, and should have held off, as he clearly had the fastest car.
I might be wrong, not really into the sport, just calling it as i thought i saw it
Cheers

Sorry - 1 point i forgot to add - where i think Hamilton is unlucky, is the time it took the race stewards to decide on this decision. When Kovalinen took out Webber, it seemed barely 30 seconds had passed before it was announced that the stewards were investigating the incident, there was no such announcement re Hamilton. Whilst there was only a lap and a half to go, if Hamilton had known the stewards were at least looking at the incident, and that a retrospective stop and go penalty or drive through or whatever may have been issued, then it may have forced him to at least try and keep driving to the end and keep his lead above 25 seconds.
Cheers

To say the FIA has a Ferrari bias is laughable! The FIA are always slamming Ferrari with fines for silly thingas they let other teams get away with! Last season when they let Mclaren keep their drivers points when they had been cheating and spying on Ferrari(and the only person in the Mclaren team with the decency to speak out and tell the FIA about this was Fernando Alonso. Were it not for him, Dennis & his band of cheating muppets would have got away with it, what did they do to the only man in the Mclaren set up with an ounce of integrity? They made damn sure he wasn't going to win anything and practically dropped the little support they were giving him so they could do yet mor mollycoddling to their daring boy Hamilton). Had Ferrari been spying and cheating like Mclaren, they woud have had all their points, drivers as well as constructors taken away and probably have been banned for a couple of seasons as well.

LC, in fairness, there were so many things going on at the end of that race, the stewards probably didn't have time to make any immediate decisions

What a bloody shame.
As far as I can see, the only mistake Hamilton made was that half spin at the start of the second lap that allowed Ferrari muppet no.1 to overtake in the first place. Otherwise this farce wouldn't be happening.
As for Ferrari muppet no. 2, he lost the race before it even started when Hamilton nicked pole position off him. Then he lets muppet no.1 overtake him at the start. He wont win the championship.
I felt bad after muppet no. 1 pranged his car because I laughed. Had the race in his hands and lost his cool. He wont be winning the championship either.
ps - I thought the reason Lewis cut the chicane was because Muppet no. 1 had shoved him (however legitimately) into the path of a car coming back onto the track so Lewis took the only evasive action he could - then intentionaly lets the muppet take the lead again (so obvious).

He may not have made it stick but he was entitled to go for it. When I say forced, I meant in the sense of "to avoid a collision" rather than a Schumacher style move - both drivers were entitled to be where they were and I think it's unfair to call it inexperience on Hamilton's behalf. Plenty of drivers do it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - it does at least make good viewing!
McLaren consulted the race director Charlie Whiting who told them what they did was legitimate (handing back the place). There's nothing in the rule to say there has to be a certain amount of time or distance lost, just that the place be relinquished.
Ultimately the question should be like it is in horse racing - was the result affected? The answer is no. Raikkonen spun off when in the lead with the race his for the taking. Massa was too far back to be affected.
On the other hand - it means Heidfeld was second!

The only thing that lets him down is his immaturity both on the track and off it. He seemed more mature in his perona last year than this year
Should just stick to what he does best. I think his best trait is his aggressive driving but he still hasnt learnt when and when not to use it.

don't believe the BBC will be any different with regards to Hamilton, especially if he is in the same position in the Drivers Championship with two races to go. He is British, a second season driver and leading the title race...fair enough grounds to focus on him.

It's because team tactics are not against the rules as long as they're done in the proper manner

I wonder why that is?
Probably because finishing 4th and 5th every race doesn't appeal much.
Goodness knows without the £50m piece of kit each week, they've got nothing else to win with.

LS, before you say anything else, Toyota have said they will back Ferrari up & McLaren & Renault feel the same way as well! Part of the sport is the technical side of it! If you want to see everyone racing in the same car watch the(incredibly boring) A1GP.
This is possibly the first thing ever Ferrari & McLaren agree on

Of course it is.
But who started throwing their toys out the pram first...?
BTW how is Felipe taking the pressure?

Hes Taking The Pressure Well
All we can hope for now is a engine failure for Lewis

Nice one pickles my son!!
Moving away from Massa, Hamilton, Ferrari Mclaren etc for a minute, I hope DC has a good race in his last ever Grand Prix today. He's been a great servant to the sport and all too often doesn't get the credit he deserves. I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do in the future

Go on Lewis!!
I know all of Britain will be right behind him.
If Massa wins he'll be one of the worst ever drivers to win the world championship - can't happen

Yep well done DC - gave me a great day out when he won the only GP I've even attended in Melbourne a few years back
This should be easy for Lewis from here on. Just cruise to the finish . . . .
