After this years Champion Chase I decided that I wasn't going to back Well Chief again, and the chances VPU will do the Champion Chase two years in a row must be low !!! So I looked for a bit of value and went for Granit Jack for this at 40/1, as he did me a bit of a favour in the supreme's last year by getting placed !!!

Does anyone know why he's been shortened this past day down to 25/1 ?

AFAIK - he hasn't run yet this season and I haven't read anything in the papers and I doubt a tipping line would be giving out tips for Cheltenham this early in the season.

I think Granit Jack is a cracking bet TheGoingStick - you have done very well getting 40/1, this race doesn't look like it has great strength in depth and i also couldn't back Well Chief again despite his obvious class.

Regards.

I agree and after his run at Cheltenham last year I thought that Granit Jack was the one to back - I have had 2pts at £48 on betfair back in July. He has good chase from in France - but I was worried he might find easier pickings elsewhere.

That said I also like Jack the Giant who came third in the Arkle - I know a lot of folks like Twist Magic, but I would have Jack the Giant to beat him around Cheltenham and at the price of 100-1 I had to have a small punt. He is a horse that fits the bill for me - does not fall over and whilst he might make some mistakes he stands on his feet and is quick between the fences.

Any reaon why you think VPU cannot do it again out of interest?

VPU is underrated IMHO, loves Cheltenham and will take an improved horse to beat it - I respect Twist Magic, but VPU for me.

Thegoing stick you are lucky to get 40s about Granit for the CC. I was hoping the same price, I am hoping he gets turned over in the Paddy Power so he might drift again so I can get some 40s for the CC

I think he has a lot of class aswell as his stablemate Twist Magic. I think VPU will be thereabouts too.

I would have at this moment in time Granit Jack, Twist Magic and VPU on the shortlist for this race

I placed the bet a couple of weeks after this years Cheltenham and a couple of months later read that Granit Jack was being aimed at handicaps this season and thought I'd done my money !!!

I wouldn't mind too much if he gets turned over in the PP as long as he runs well.

I noted Paul Nichols enthusiasm in the RP yesterday regarding Twist Magic and his chances in the Haldon Gold Cup, so that should be a good early season indictaor for the CC, hopefully VPU will turn up for the race.

If he's to be a Champion chaser he surely has to at least go close of his mark in the 130's doesn't he though Tommy?

Desperation for it to get beat mate

Well Chief for me again. I'm sure he would have won it last season, but for goin arse over tit. The horse is different gravy to anything that will line up in that field. I'm not sure what happened in the Melling, but it was too bad to be true. I just can't get over that he gave a grade 1 winner 20lbs in Thisthatantother and beat him easy. The best weight carrying preformance I've seen anyway.

In my eyes, Well Chief is the reason Kauto Star isn't going for the Tingle Creek.

I'm with you Dom. I refuse to give up on Well Chief. He is different class.

And Fair Along will win the Champion Chase

I really want Monets Garden to run in this as he will win it, he has a great crusiing speed and could easily have the others off the bridle turning for home. I see this as his best distance at Cheltenham and 2.5 miles at Aintree. Its worth taking a chance at 10/1.

Good call - second to VPU giving weight in the Arkle!

Just looking at the betting on this race and have noticed that Jack the Giant is now 20-1 from over 100-1 a couple of weeks ago - does anyone know why??

I see that VPU has shortended slightly on betfair.
