Woo hoo, i'm the first to use the sub-forum!
So, who's going to win the Champion Hurdle? We know YAIYAM is convinced that Katchit will buck the 5YO trend and take tihe crown , but the two i want against the field are Bobs Pride and Ebaziyan.
Bobs Pride won a hot handicap hurdle at Punchestown last tme out under a big weight and looks to be improving quickly. He was high class on the flat too which is a bonus and if he has sorted his jumping out, he could be anything. 20/1 isn't great considering he has to imprive another 20lbs+ to get into the mix, but i really think he can do it. Hopefully he'll go for the Greatwood - in which i'd imagine he'd run off about 140. If he won that well, he'd be one of the favourites.
Ebaziyan was impressive in the Supreme and 33/1 looks crazy for a winner of that race, especially as he is beautifully bred and it looks a weak year.
I do like Katchit, but get the impression something more speedy/classy will be too much for this bonny little horse - Sublimity is no price, so I am leaning towards IKTITAF and MACS JOY. _________________ ROLL OF HONOUR

My two Champion Hurdle fancies Bobs Pride and Ebaziyan actually line up against one another tomorrow at Down Royal in a hot Grade 3 2m hurdle race. Also in the line up are other improvers Aitimatov and Farmer Brown. If something wins this decisively then they will surely have to be classed as a genuine CH contender.

So is Aitmatov now worth an A/P wager for this ? How much does he have to improve to get into the mix ?
33/1 looks a good ante-post price on paper and as the Champion Hurdle looks an open race to me it maybe worth siding with an outsider.
Just watched the replay - very impressed with that winner. Considering he has form over 2m4f he did well do win like that over 2m off a moderate gallop against proven specialist 2m horses. He jumps beautifully too and is very accurate over his hurdles. Was pulling his riders arms off at the line and was full of running. A fierecely run 2m of the CH will be right up his street as you want a horse that stays further for that race. ust had 2pts @ 33/1 with Hills.
The dark horse and the forgotten horse is Iktitaf. I was on him last season in the CH and will be this season each way. He has a lot of class. He travels well and he was going well when falling 3 out. Noel Meade is confident he can go to the top and he is my only fancy for this race at the moment
Iktitaf each way. _________________ Looking forward to the Jewson plot at Cheltenham this March 2010!!
I really fancied Iktitaf last year but i dont think he will be there this year. Hasnt really produced since falling and it may have shocked him. Was going well last year but will see what he does this season. I have never backed Katchit but would like to see him against the big guns.

same as you Tommy
I was on heavy in the place last year with a smaller win bet so was gutted to see him tip over... would have been 1st or 2nd and clearly has the class to go close again
Macs Joy would be a threat to all if recovering his form but couldn't be backed until the day. _________________ RJI

Couldn't have gone much worse really

Everytime one of these horses that has finished behind Katchit last year runs this season i am becomming more and more confident Katchit is not going to win the Champion this year and probably no other year, the Triumph form is turning out to be one of the worst so far in a very long time not one of these horses
Liberate
Mobaasher
Poquelin
has suggested that Katchit should be rated any higher than 150 which is a stone off Champion Hurdle form and to me that is being generous, the only horse that has sort of boosted the form is Counting house but then i would say his run in the Triumph was to bad to be true _________________ Forest are Treemendous
I am inclined to agree that Katchits triumph hurdle is not working out that well and all the stats are against him, but can you ignore the time that he posted - along with MWDS in the Arkle is was one of the fastest times of the festival?
In addition Katchit could do no more than win and to be honest it was one of the easier wins of the festival. Nothing in the race really got close to him.....the 9l win could have been a lot more.
I will not be backing him AP for the ch hurdle as I think he will still be a generous price come the day if he lines up...... but I would not dismiss him so laying him is not currently an option. For me the CH H is more open than it has been for years so the stats could be bucked!
