It looks as though for all sorts of reasons, the proposed syndicate meeting at York on 9 September has very few takers so far (only 3 firm, another 3 or 4 possibles).
I know a number of you have problems making this - so can ALL members who have expressed an interest in taking up shares please make suggestions about alternative dates and venues that would be convenient for you.
Thanks. _________________ UNEXPECTED WINNER 2009 FLAT 10 TO FOLLOW COMPETITION!
Any other venue would suit us northeners. A few more hundred miles here and there wouldn`t make much difference. I think we`d have to stay at least one night where ever the meeting is held.
So come on you southeners, get your ideas on the board.
As I live in the middle I dont have the travel times as much as those of us that live either down South or Up north so I would be willing to travel ... but I am not available until the weekend 23/24 Sep due to a Wedding (NOT MINE) and Holidays... Sorry I cant be more specific but I feel in fairness to all.... A Middle of the country venue would probably be best... However, I am willing to travel if necessary... When you consider the distance Rapid and Toast will have to travel from Moray and Jo and peeps from the south coast... there is going to be some serious mileage undertaken, wherever it is held......... Ohh for video conferencing. _________________ A tips only a good one if its a winning one
From mid Sept thro to 1st week in November is certainly out for me. School holidays, staff holidays, stock taking and busy Autumn season Dear me is it that time of year already

Middle of country would suit me - no probs with travel. I'll be going to York anyway for the Leger.
Come on you others - surely we can get something together! _________________ UNEXPECTED WINNER 2009 FLAT 10 TO FOLLOW COMPETITION!
I could do the middle of the country somewhere, I'm rubbish at geography though so can't really come up with any excellent suggestions - how about somewhere like Uttoxeter?
NoDough, thanks. I suspect for maximum takers it would have to be a Saturday meeting, or at least a weekend one.
Roughly "middle of the country" (with some latitude) would be Uttoxeter, Market Rasen, Worcester, Wolves, Leicester. Stratford, Hereford, Cheltenham and Warwick. Also, with reasonably easy access from the Far North, Haydock, Aintree, Doncaster, Wetherby, Pontefract, Beverly, Southwell, Chester.
So, as far as I am concerned, I would be happy to do
a. Sat 16 Sept, Warwick
b. Sun 17 Sept, Uttoxeter
c. Sat 23 Sept, Chester or Market Rasen
d. Sat 30 Sept, Wolves (evening meeting - urgh, but would sink my principles if it meant a good turnout!!)
In October
1 (Sun) Market Rasen or Uttoxeter
14 (Sat) Stratford
15 (Sun) Hereford
21/22 (Sat and Sun) Aintree, (Sun) Towcester (marginal)
Bath, Salisbury, Goodwood, Fontwell, Plumpton and the courses round London (Ascot, Newbury, Kempton, Sandown, Windsor, Epsom) are probably too far south.
However, stretching the time a bit, how about Fri, Sat or Sun 10,11, 12 November CHELTENHAM!!
Most racing diaries (mine is WillHills) have a UK map showing the courses (v useful!), and any road atlas will mark racecourses. Need to check the fixture list, though - because they are printed early, racing diaries don't show changes (eg from Doncaster to York for the St Leger - have already fallen foul of this once!) The SL and RP websites have an up to date fixture list.
Hope this helps. _________________ UNEXPECTED WINNER 2009 FLAT 10 TO FOLLOW COMPETITION!
I think it will be very difficult to get enough people together on any certain day. Why cant we just thrash out the basics on this forum ?????? Or even have our meeting on the forum (if thats possible). Some or little headway is better than none.
It appears that Jenny has most, if not all of it sussed out. So lets keep the ball rolling.
